Mom Does Online College Degree

As a busy mom of four, I understand that most mothers out there are forced to juggle by jaylopez
jam-packed schedules, work and laundry. Try to fit earning a degree in there and you’d be considered borderline insane! I wanted to go back to school and earn my masters in management, but I knew I couldn’t attend a traditional university.

Suddenly, it clicked that I could earn my masters degree in management online. I was thrilled when I learned about the flexibility offered by online programs, so I signed up for an online masters in management program.

Online degree programs are perfect for the busy mom because they allow you to earn your degree while managing your household. I was so happy to find a program that wouldn’t force me to put my family on the back burner while I pursued my dreams. My family was undoubtedly a tad hesitant when they learned I was going back to school, but they quickly discovered that it wasn’t going to negatively affect our family, which then fueled their undying support for me.

My family is the most important thing in my life, so I like to wake up early and get my school work done before everyone else wakes up. By sacrificing sleeping in, I am able to finish my studies and be ready to work, spend time with my kids and give them my full attention. Sometimes I am too tired to wake up early, so on those days, I do my school work at night once everyone has gone to bed. I work full-time, so I am unable to do my school work while my kids are at school, which means that I must do it before they wake up or after they go to bed.

I also found a way to encourage my children to succeed in school, while I succeed in my own schooling. I started a tradition every night where we all do our homework together. We  sit together, either at the kitchen table or desks, and do our individual work at the same time. My children do their homework, spend time with me and I get to finish any school work I couldn’t get done in the morning or at night. Not only do we all get to spend time together, but we are doing something productive instead of just zoning out in front of the TV!

One of my daughters just received her Master’s Degree by attending classes online. It is a life saver for mothers like her. I don’t know how she would have done it without this online program.
